The former NYC searchlights at Amsterdam station. The yellow indication on track 1 does not mean approach but instead an open track or no scheduled move to come through. There will be another move westbound on track 2 soon. These signals were retired 7 years later in Sept, 2011 after the Hurricane Irene flooding. These signals would have been replaced anyway because A) the Feds created PTC & B) as time has gone on CSX has standardized with Safetran signal masts. Before the PTC mandate, signals were replaced as necessary and otherwise these signals might still be around today. |
